Gaurav MishraGaurav Mishra helps organizations rethink purpose and participation, and engage people through storytelling and crowdsourcing. Previously, Gaurav has been a brand marketer, an academic, an activist and an entrepreneur.

As Asia Director for Social Media at MSLGROUP, Publicis Groupe’s strategic communications and engagement network, Gaurav support 1400+ staff across 10+ agencies in India, Greater China, Japan and Southeast Asia and leads on insights, planning, creative and training. Gaurav has also created two new global offerings, including software, services and thought leadership: People’s Lab for crowdsourcing insights and innovations and PurPle (Purpose + People) for catalyzing collaborative social innovation and grassroots change movements.

Previously, Gaurav studied at IIM Bangalore, held senior marketing roles at the Tata Group, taught social media at Georgetown University as the 2008-09 Yahoo! Fellow, launched crowd-sourced election monitoring platform Vote Report India and co-founded social media agency 2020 Social, which was acquired by Publicis Groupe.

Gaurav is widely considered to be a thought leader on branding, social media and social innovation.

- Publications: Gaurav has written 5+ chapters for books, reports and anthologies,  contributed op-eds to 10+ Indian and international publications, and written a weekly newspaper column on Twitter and society for Mail Today. Gaurav’s award-winning blog Gauravonomics is amongst the top 150 advertising and marketing blogs globally, as per AdAge Power 150.

- Public Speaking: Gaurav has spoken at 100+ conferences, led 50+ workshops globally, guest lectured at 10+ business and technology schools, and commented in 100+ Indian and international media stories.

- Recognition: Gaurav has been a 2008-09 Yahoo! Fellow, a 2009 SNCR Fellow and a 2009 TEDIndia Fellow. Gaurav has also been a part of 5+ Indian and international award juries.
